Brooklyn, NY—“The tragic death of Peter Figoski is unfortunately the latest example of just how dangerous and difficult the job of being a New York City police officer can be. Countless times this decorated police officer left his family and loved ones to protect and serve the residents in our neighborhoods, unfortunately this time Officer Figoski paid the ultimate sacrifice.

“I am deeply saddened by the circumstances which lead to his death. We simply cannot afford to sit back and allow those who have a total disregard for life run rampant on our streets and I pray all of those involved are quickly brought to justice. I speak for all the law abiding citizens in my District when I say we remain grateful for the work of officer Figoski--and all police officers who serve this great city. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and to every member of the New York City Police Department.”
